Please help us in Kilmarnock, Scotland, to save Johnnie
Walker whisky, by signing our petition. The new multi-national owners of the label have decided to close the plant in Kilmarnock.
We believe if we get enough signatures from around the world
we will be successful in keeping the Plant open.
Just use your favourite Internet Search Engine, type ' save
Johnnie Walker petition', and it will be at the top of the page.
Hopefully we will prevent another piece of our culture disappearing
forever.
If this indeed takes place as proposed, it would be far more supportive of us to attempt
to purchase products not owned by the Diageo Distillers - though that will be very difficult. They seem to have gained
a stranglehold on alcoholic products in Great Britain and Ireland.

Dear Ms. Frost:
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Paul Carty and I am the principal
of Archbishop
Stepinac High School. I have exciting news to share about our school’s drama program.
The Stepinac Drama Club has been invited to represent the United States at the 2009 American Theatre
Festival in Edinburgh,
Scotland.
Only 60 out of 1600 schools in our nation were invited! The Fringe Festival showcases our nation's best theatre troupes
at the world's largest performing arts festival.
This honor is the pinnacle of our club’s success story. Our club
has garnered over 65 Helen Hayes High School Theatre Award nominations over
the past 7 years including nominations for Best Musical of the Year. In addition, we have been featured in the New York Times, Journal News, and Eyewitness News. However, our greatest
success story has been bringing students from all different school groups (sportsmen [i.e. football players], academicians,
artists) together to work for a common cause. Students of numerous backgrounds and cultures have found harmony through
this sense of solidarity. The stage really has become a melting pot of our school community.
All the aforementioned and the talent of our students allowed us to garner the
invitation to perform in Scotland.
However, the cost of the trip is nearly $6000 per student. In this difficult economic climate, I have been trying to
raise monies to offset the cost of the trip for our students.
I am writing to you to ask for your help. Many of our students come from
blue collar working families struggling in this current economic climate. They hail from numerous cities including Bronx,
Yonkers, White Plains,
and Mt.
Vernon. Our drama club has an opportunity to live a dream, but the cost of securing this dream is too much for our
families. Many of our students even worked several part-time jobs while studying and performing throughout the school
year in order to contribute to the cost. And now with all their efforts in tow, this trip may have to be canceled if
we cannot raise the remaining monies.
Our school community would be most appreciative of any donation to help make
this trip a reality for our club. We still have $60,000 remaining in our goal to get to Scotland.
It is certainly a once in a lifetime experience for these young people.
They are great kids who are doing positive things in their community and schools. I hope you will give this serious
consideration. I would be more than happy to publicly laud your contribution throughout the community. I would
also appreciate your sharing this request with any of your members who might be willing to help us. Thank you for taking the
time to read this e-mail and to learn about our troupe and its current mission.
Sincerely,
Paul Carty
