Ann Heflin writes the following about her recent surgery. "The surgery was more involved
than planned. The Doctors insisted on full sized MRI pictures. So, I had a new MRI done there in Florida.
The Doctor discovered a cyst pressing into my spinal cord. And some other issues. Thus justifying my considerable
pain. The cyst has probably been there for a few years. Nothing that was proposed by the so-called Excellent doctors
at the Cleveland Clinic would have relieved the pain. I feel my anger is also justified, because no other doctor spotted
the cyst. I am taking strong pain medication now, so forgive my really off, off the wall writing. I
hated to keep whining about my problems. The last year has been horrible. I had two choices. #1 take Vicodin
to kill the pain & have trouble being coherent or #2 not take medication and be a total bitch. I spent the
trip home listing the people I plan to sue. Cleveland Clinic is at the top of the list. My Lawyer thinks
I have cause. The great news? My spine is now straight, my navel has returned to the proper place, my right
buttock is not thrust out and up. The pain is much less now and of a different sort. The Doctors had to drill
into the spine,(gulp) and removed "quite a bit of the one lumbar." I didn't have the courage to ask, just exactly
what 'quite a bit meant'. I dare to hope. I still have a few months of recovery. I already am in much
less pain & the pain is a healing sort."
Good to hear she is also on the road to recovery!

And to Jim and Margaret Frost! Ashley and Ryan added Braylon to their family on October 5th at 2:27
pm. He weighed in at a hearty 7 lb. 6 oz, 20 and 1/2" long. Amy and Jayson thus became first time grandparents,
and Jim and Margaret are first time great-grandparents. Hooray!

Post script to the above. Brittany Harvey (Ashley's sister) and Gabe Simon recently
welcomed baby Noah to their little family. So Braylon Smith has a new cousin and chum for the future. Noah was
born on November 2nd at 2:27 pm. He weighs 8.5 lbs and is 20 inches long. Thanksgiving at the Frosts will be a
real celebration this year.

Hello, I am a musician from Cleveland, Ohio. I recently acquired some sheet music and song sheets from my
Grandfather's Uncle or Great Uncle Phil Barker. It appears that he was a Scottish Character actor and singer in the style
of Harry Lauder. I believe the music is from 1932. He also had several 78 rpm records released on the Parlaphone Record label.
I am trying in vain to find out more about him. I thought perhaps you might be able to help.

Congratulations to Ryan Smith and Ashley Harvey upon their recent marriage. Best wishes to the

Bob Morehead, Convener of Clan Muirhead here in Ohio, recently was awarded the Order of the Saltire
by the Muirhead Clan Society. It is his clan's highest honor and this is the second time he has been chosen for this
honor. He received oak leaf clusters to wear on his medal.
Christy Walsh was our Rose and Thistle Award winner this year. Congratulations
to Christy - she works very hard to make sure that Scottish Highland Dancing is a tradition still seen and
appreciated. We are surely grateful for all she does for us and for the community in general
Scottish Country Dance Classes in Kent. Frances Acar is teaching a Scottish Country Dance Class
every Friday over in Kent at the Christ Episcopal Church, 118 S. Mantua St., Kent, Ohio 44240. Beginners are most welcome.

Gaelic Classes. Frances is also teaching Gaelic classes and is especially interested in beginners
